Whence it comes — A solo exhibition by Jacky Cheung

The impetus of Jacky Cheung Tsz-ki’s first solo exhibition "Whence it comes" springs from his fascination with ambiguity. Marked by its elusiveness and tranquility, his art engenders a mode of viewing that focuses on prolonged contemplation and individual reflection. Viewing his works is much like gazing at the ocean: instead of finding out what the waters look like, one lets their eyes idle on the calm sea.

Artist Statement

Art resembles a pronoun, just as the “I” here refers to the author while “you” is the reader. Like a sign, it points to a memory, a distant past, or simply a sentiment. My works may feature objects or landscapes—but that does not matter. Instead of finding ways to express or organise ideas, I look for subjects that represent transient moments in my imagination.
